Are you struggling?
Don’t believe your thoughts. You are not:
A burden
A failure
Worthless
You are light. Everyone can see it, even if you can’t right now.
It’s ok to:
Talk about it. The right people will help you carry the load.
Cry, sleep, eat, meditate, soak in an hour-long shower, or do whatever you need to feel even a sliver of relief. You-time is the most important time.
Just be. Depression doesn’t follow schedules. The process can’t be rushed.
There’s no single way through this, but if nothing else, remember: it’s temporary.
Please don’t allow depression’s lies to convince you otherwise.
When you have the energy, write a few words like these on a sticky note and place it wherever you’ll see them often. My favorite was the bathroom mirror.
I’m not a professional, but I am someone who experiences chronic, deeply-dark depression—and I can empathize with where your mind is.
You will remember your light again. I promise.
Breathe deeply.
Give it just a little more time.
