Absolutely resonate with this. That line—“my emotions are signals, not reality”—hit hard. Been learning to treat those thoughts with curiosity instead of judgment too.

Thanks so much, Jonathan, and I'm glad it resonates! That small shift in perspective is immensely powerful.

And that’s all it really takes

The core belief in unworthiness is key for me.

Hell even a couple of months ago I was saying stuff to myself and others like 'i'm not really a writer', even though I'd published a number of books. Then when my latest cdme out and a freaking Guggenheim Fellow called it 'remarkable' 'gripping' and 'beautifully written', 'writer to writer', after the shock wore off the inner voice quickly announced 'she's just being nice'. 😂

That praise and validation DID have a healing effect though, as I was able to view my work through a fresh lens and, yeah..it IS pretty decent, powerful even. And I AM a writer. That transformation is real.

Still, the imposter syndrome lingers in the notion that 'i really don't know much' or 'i don't have anything important to day'. So it's ongoing, but articles like this one are very helpful in the process.

Thanks so much for this Erik!

Thanks so much, David! I'm thrilled this resonated. Imposter syndrome is so tricky, isn't it? On the one hand, we deeply crave the praise and feel terrible when it's not received, but on the other, when it is received, under no circumstances will we believe it. 🤪 May we pause, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves.

‘pause, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves’

Truer words were never spoken!

This is advice to live by! Admittedly hard under pressure, but that’s what practice is for!

Loving this exchange. Thank you. 💜
