When I read the part about your pulse and oxygen reaching 97 simultaneously, and reflecting on their meaning in numerology, I hear a man yell “FOUR!” outside my house. I live on a golf course…but I’m also intrigued by the way the Universe speaks 😉
“[Crows and ravens] evoke the mortification, in the deepest sense, of being reduced to the bare bones of psychological verity.” — The Book of Symbols, Reflections on Archetypal Images
I love this ^ book! One of my favorites! My copy is very bookmarked with little stickies all over the top.. 😂 Crows/ravens 🐦⬛ are my spirit animals. I was a raven in one of my ketamine trips. I was flying all around the universe.
I’ve also had strange encounters and commutations with crows. They usually warn me about impending danger. It’s usually connected with the need to pay attention or be a little guarded in a relationship or some other matter involving miscommunication. If I’ve been having difficulty with someone, they’ll say to me: “You need to take care of that now without delay!” They’ll actually point with their beaks in the direction I need to avoid or the location where the person is located.
These are powerful creatures. The fact that they were hanging around during the session does seems like a good sign — like you’re dialed in and the universe is responding in kind. It’s weird during my second or third trio I kept hearing birds squawking. Afterward, I asked the sitter — was I imaging birds squawking because they were very loud? She said, yeah — they were outside the window making a racket. I’m not sure what kind of birds they were though.
You made some finely nuanced observations which I’d like to think about and return to later.
Thanks for sharing, Derek. Your writing is always interesting and makes me think.
Thank you for acknowledging my comments, Derek. I tend to go off on tangents. There were a number of specific things I could reference from your article. I’d be commenting a little closer to the text. I have some interest in writing about my ketamine experiences, however, I don’t think my story would be as colorful and rich as yours.
I think you picked a topic which interests a lot of people.
I don’t have time to connect now — maybe in January? I was wondering what you think about ketamine’s addictive or habitual tendencies. I’ve some thoughts about this topic. There’s been a lot of negative news in the press too. I wonder if you take a particular stance or do you prefer to stay out of political or controversial aspects of working with ketamine. Dosing is a big issue too. Look forward to see how your writing evolves.
You are a very fine writer — insightful and creative. Again, I appreciate the worksheets. I haven’t had a chance to look at them as I’m packing and moving. I’m going to take a Substack hiatus until winter solstice. It’s been nice connecting with you. I hope you enjoy the holidays. See you later.

That's really cool, Julianne! The Universe certainly does speak in riddles. 😊
So beautiful and powerful! Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you, Alina! May we all recognize the beauty in sharing our authenticity.
